Nike and Slovenia have been partners for more than three years now and it is an honour for Slovenia to be in the company of Brazil, Holland, Portugal and other top-notch national teams. Together Nike has nine teams at FIFA World Cup 2010, competing under the World's biggest sports brand. In 2008 Nike and FA Slovenia together made an ambitious decision, that the next jersey for 2010 FIFA World Cup would see the return of Triglav silhouette on the chest of Slovenian heroes. Of course at the time the decision was reached, nobody had an idea that Kek's team would reach for the stars and qualify for the biggest football competition in the World. But what can be said is that going big and carrying out bold moves is in the blood of both, Slovenian Football Association and the American multinational.
Slovenia has first seen Triglav on their heroes' jerseys appear at 2002 World Cup and it was only suitable, maybe even visionary, for the symbol to return to 2010 jersey. The draw of the teams and agreements between the opponents at the World Cup mean, that Slovenia will play at least two matches (against USA and England) in South Africa in their »first« colour - brand new white jersey, where the motif of Triglav appears in green over the chest. Together with the depiction of the national symbol, the green colour symbolizes the nature and green forests, as Slovenia is one of the most forested countries in Europe per one citizen (Slovenia is in third place behind Sweden and Finland). At the opening match with Algeria, Slovenia will sport their second jersey in a dark and brighter green combination. Both, home and away jersey, have the word »Slovenija« on the outer side of the collar and the circles that originate from FA emblem printed on the inner side of the collar. Another significant detail of Slovenian jerseys is a weaved-in signature on the inner surface of the FA logo - right across the players’ heart is a message that only the players see when they pull the shirt over their head. It reads »SRCE BIJE ZA SLOVENIJO« (Heart beats for Slovenia). The bold and edgy font face symbolizes the bold and edgy peaks of Slovenia's highest mountains.
The number and player's name on the back of the jersey are made from a special porous material, which makes the jersey even more airy and light. But the biggest difference from the previous jerseys now is Nike's awareness for the nature, as the jersey itself is an ecological innovation, made our of recycled polyester. Each jersey is therefore made out of approximately eight plastic bottles, and designed in a way that it offers airiness and the biggest possible comfort, putting its part into a mosaic of a good performance the players in Nike's jerseys put in for Slovenian team.
